Along the same lines as what Gary said, it's long past time to look at consolidating school districts.

ihave an idea. instead of cutting back on items that affect the kids, lets cut some admin costs this time. may a few supers and principles and their staff. wouldnt that be a change?

I've suggested for a long time that the schools do fund raising but not send home those ridiculous catalogs or the boxes of chocolate bars. A school is already a non-profit entity and can do fund raising in a more traditional sense. But the complaint I get is that schools are not set up to take in monetary donations and that the trinkets and candy are administered by a third party. But kids are still out there collecting cash and going door to door. If the idea is to get cash out of kid's hands then having kids only collect checks is a logical solution. On the catalog and candy items the schools get 50 percent or less of the proceeds. If you do a more direct fund raising approach you can collect more than 90 percent if you intend to give them some kind of printed trinket like a mug or small tool with the school's logo. You can get creative and have levels of giving like OETA does. How about levels like Plebe, Scholar, Instructor, Adjunct, Teacher, Professor, and such. Each level gets a different trinket item. You can do it each semester and start over.
