More than two dozen ABLE Commission and Oklahoma City-County Health Department agents descended on a MidTown coffee shop Friday night, shutting down what was to be an inaugural nighttime food market.
Dozens of people, young and old, showed up at Elemental Coffee, 815 N Hudson, for what was to be a showcase of food and drink offered by local food trucks. But, within 30 minutes of its 8 p.m. start, agents with ABLE and the Oklahoma City-County Health Department appeared intent on checking all licenses.
Mike Bailey with the Oklahoma City-County Health Department, said Hugo's Tacos was shut down for lacking a license. Big Truck Tacos was shut down for having the wrong license and evidence of electrical problems. The Munch Box was shut down for electrical problems.
Laura Massenat, co-owner of the coffee shop, said she was supplied with copies of licenses from Big Truck Tacos and the Munch Box and was surprised by the shutdowns.
Bailey said the crackdown was part of inspections being held citywide Friday night.
