Alabama puts end to Arizona's reign

Alabama's first softball win over Arizona couldn't have come at a better time — an elimination game at the Women's College World Series.
The Crimson Tide offense erupted in a 5-1 win Saturday afternoon at Hall of Fame Stadium to end Arizona's two-year reign.

Alabama entered the game 0-10 all-time against Arizona but scored four runs in the sixth off senior right-hander Taryne Mowatt, last year's Most Outstanding Player.
"We talked about if our offense showed up the rest of the tournament, I didn't think anyone could match us,” Alabama coach Patrick Murphy said. "Our lineup one through nine is very dangerous.”
First baseman Charlotte Morgan was 3-for-3, drove in three runs and slammed a mammoth home run that sailed over a tent in left field. Morgan added a two-run single in the sixth after Brittany Rogers broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI double.
After winning back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007, the eight-time national champion Wildcats went 0-2 at this year's WCWS and finished the season 41-19.
