All-State baseball player of the year: Broken Arrow's Archie Bradley turns attention to draft

After a year that included committing to OU in football and baseball and rising up draft boards to become one of the top two high school pitchers in the nation in scout's eyes, the draft was the next thing in Bradley's sights.

“A lot of the focus shifts there now because that's ultimately what I'm going to base my decision on,” Bradley said. “Hopefully soon I'll have an answer for people, or at least a more clarified answer.”

Bradley is expected to be picked early in the first round when the Major League Baseball first-year player draft begins Monday night. He's also The Oklahoman's All-State Player of the Year.

He fully understands that his life is charmed.

He'll have the chance to sign for a gaudy signing bonus and start his professional baseball career or play quarterback for the Sooners.

“It's been an amazing year,” Bradley said. “People talk about their senior year being fun and laid back, and people think about the draft, and being recruited in football kind of gets in the way of that, but it's been part of the journey for me.

“I enjoy every minute of it and consider myself humbled and blessed to have the talent to be in the position I'm in.”
