LANDRY CHAPPELL — The Guthrie senior linebacker holds the school record for tackles in a career, but he'll be focusing on wrestling in college. Chappell has signed to wrestle for Oklahoma State next year.

“When we were watching the highlight video, it hit me that I'm not gonna be able to play again,” Chappell said.

The 2011 Guthrie seniors — with one notable exception — have played together since little league.

Senior receiver/safety Clint Simek, who moved in from Prague last year, was ruled ineligible by the OSSAA in November, briefly halting the Bluejays' state title run.

“This season went as well as possible with the whole ineligible thing,” Chappell said. “It was just great playing with all these seniors.

“We've all grown up together. It's just special to play little league all the way through with these guys and just see the progress we all made.”
