Inspectors with the state Health Department targeted allegations that an aide at Whispering Pines Nursing Center forced a patient into a shower with his clothing on, and multiple claims of nursing home residents assaulting one another. They found that abuse complaints were not properly investigated by nursing home personnel, and that staff lacked required training to deal with patients with mental health problems. A social services worker put other patients at risk for contracting AIDS when she failed to provide condoms to a sexually active nursing home resident that’s HIV positive. The worker told an investigator she counseled the man about the dangers of unprotected sex, promised to provide him condoms and never did, the report indicates.
