The Alzheimer's Association will host a free community awareness event titled, “My Story, My Song: Guidance, Faith, Courage and Hope,” at 6:30 p.m. Friday at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 5700 N Kelley.
The event will feature personal stories from family caregivers and a person with Alzheimer's disease, music from the Ambassadors' Concert Choir and a guest performance by recording artist Dennis Jernigan.
“We are so excited about this opportunity to provide information, education, inspiration and hope to caregivers of those living with this disease, and others who may be affected,” said Randle Lee, regional director of the Central Oklahoma office of the Alzheimer's Association.
The group offers free services to family caregivers and people in the early stages of the disease. Services include family care consultations, support groups, information and referral, free brochures, lending library, caregiver classes and workshops.
The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research. Its mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research, to provide and enhance care and support for all affected and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
