Dr. Robert McCaffree and Dr. Mary Anne McCaffree accept the Distinguished Medical Service Awards.
800 medical colleagues, community leaders and friends of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, met at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, for the annual Evening of Excellence Dinner honoring three outstanding Oklahomans. Honorees were Harold Hamm, Dean’s Award for Distinguished Community Service, and Dr. Mary Anne McCaffree and Dr. Robert McCaffree, Dean’s Award for Distinguished Medical Service.
Dr. Dewayne Andrews, senior vice president and provost of the College of Medicine, gave the welcome and presided over the awards presentation. OU president David L. Boren gave a short talk and thanked the honorees and guests.
Shelly Lambertz introduced her father, Harold Hamm, and everyone laughed when she teased him about his personal life.
Amy Bankhead was dinner chairman and Nazette Zuhdi Cleaver was vice chairman. Kristen Brown was advisory chairman. On the steering committee were Bankhead, Dr. Donald H. Garrett, Michael Samis, Dr. Russell Postier and Dr. Andrews.

OU music students provided music during dinner and the OU Steel Drum Band performed while guests were arriving.

The event benefits the OU College of Medicine Research Fund and is given in grants to doctors and researchers on the campus.
