Share “Andersons hold Cowboys tickets”

Although Boone Pickens Stadium is a long way from Bristol, Conn., ESPN "SportsCenter” anchor John Anderson and his wife, Tamara, are Oklahoma State football season ticket holders.

Anderson said Tamara, a former Tulsa Fast Breakers cheerleader, bought the tickets soon after she graduated from OSU in 1988. He said they usually make it to about only one game a year, selling the rest of the tickets to a friend.

"She doesn't want to get rid of them because they are awesome — on the 40 yard line and about 10 rows up,” Anderson said.

Anderson said he doesn't expect to make it to Stillwater for a game this year but plans to see the Cowboys play Missouri, his alma mater, in Columbia, Mo., Oct. 11. He said he is still steamed over his Tigers losing twice to the Sooners last year.

"I'm not really happy with Bob Stoops right now,” he said with a chuckle. "They ruined what could have been the finest season in the history of my life.”

Anderson said he enjoys occasionally working in Oklahoma references in his "SportsCenter” dialogue.

"We try to let the folks know that we enjoyed (Eskimo) Joe's,” he said. "When they play the College World Series for the gals, I try to point out that you can tell by the red dirt that you're in Okahoma City.”
