Annual festival in Yukon celebrates Scottish heritage

YUKON – The sixth annual Iron Thistle Scottish Festival and Highland Games hosted by the United Scottish Clans of Oklahoma, April 27-29 at the Kirkpatrick Family Farm in Yukon, is a family-friendly event celebrating Scottish heritage with live entertainment, dancing, vendors, workshops, games, crafts and more.

The Iron Thistle Festival features three days of family entertainment with exciting live music performances by Scotland Rising, On the Doss, As The Crow Flies, Flowers of Edinburgh, Black Oak Shillelagh, Emerald Flame and more.

Enjoy live dance performances by The Oklahoma Academy of Irish Dance, Blacksheep Ceili Dancers & Band and All About Irish. The festival also includes a variety of vendors and a special children’s area with games, crafts and other activities. Workshops in fiddle, drum, dance, genealogy and piping are also available during the festival.

Festivities kick off Friday, April 27 with a Celtic Music Concert, Fire Ceremony and Introductions to the Clans. Festival grounds open to the public at 5 p.m. and the Fire Ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m. with free admission. The Celtic Music Concert is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. with paid admission.
