Another Project 180 Job for Rudy Construction

by Steve Lackmeyer Published: September 24, 2013

Remember when the streets around City Hall and the Oklahoma City Museum of Art were torn up as a part of Project 180, and then the job site appeared to be abandoned for months before the job was slowly resumed and finally completed?

That contractor was Rudy Construction.

The delays I cited during the summer of 2012 continued – long after the art museum glass installation was done. Work was continuing well into this past spring. Often, only a couple of workers would be seen working on the job – and for less than a few hours a day.

So…. guess who is being recommended for the next  Project 180 job?

The Devon Implementation Committee, which will be meeting at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the city clerk’s conference room at City Hall, 200 N Walker, is being asked by city staff to approve a $6,864,538 bid submitted by Rudy Construction to do the next wave of Project 180 street reconstruction projects, which will include Dean A. McGee between Robinson and Broadway, the NW 4 and Robinson intersection, Robinson between Park and Dean A. McGee, and Robert S. Kerr between Harvey and Broadway.

The bid will ultimately require approval of the Oklahoma City Council.

I’ll be asking for specific timetables this time. I’ll be watching and marking when Rudy is working, when they are not. I will bring you, the readers, into this project. Yes. We’ll be watching.
