JONES — The fifth earthquake of 2010 in Oklahoma County struck this morning in Jones, authorities said.
The 3.7-magnitude quake struck about 1:15 a.m., the U.S. Geological Survey reported. Its epicenter was about six miles below the surface, which is about three miles deeper than most of the dozens of temblors that have affected the area in the last year.
Oklahoma Geological Survey officials have said the earthquakes are part of a swarm, a series of small earthquakes in an area usually affected by few. Authorities do not think the outbreak portends a serious future threat to Oklahoma.
