NORMAN — The Sun Bowl granted Bob and Mike Stoops’ request to not face each other in the postseason. It won’t be able to stop the mini-Stoops Bowl slated for Norman next September.
Mark Stoops, the youngest of the Stoops brothers coaching quartet, took over as Florida State’s defensive coordinator on Dec. 11. He’ll brings his defense to Owen Field on Sept. 11 when the Seminoles play at Oklahoma. "He says, ‘Does that mean I can’t come out in the spring and watch you guys?’ ” Bob Stoops said. Mark Stoops had served as the defensive coordinator on Mike Stoops’ Arizona staff since the 2004 season, and now takes over in Tallahassee, his second stop in Florida. Mark Stoops was the defensive backs coach at Miami from 2001-03. "Arizona has more than gotten over the hump,” Bob Stoops said. "Just got another opportunity to be something more, and to break from Mike a little bit, but also to be at another excellent school.” Arizona plays Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl on Dec.
