CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Since he arrived at Miami, coach Al Golden has said the Hurricanes need consistency in their play.
He wishes the same would apply to their lineups.
With starting linebacker Denzel Perryman sidelined for this week's trip to Georgia Tech with an ankle injury, Miami will use its 13th different defensive starting lineup in 16 games under Golden. Because of injuries or suspensions, the Hurricanes have not used the same starting defensive lineup in more than two consecutive weeks since the start of last season.
Golden says it's "beyond unbelievable" to think about it in those terms.
The latest readjustments come at a less-than-ideal time for Miami (2-1, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), which will be facing a Georgia Tech (2-1, 1-1) team averaging 374 rushing yards per game.
