EASTERN GASTON COUNTY IN THE PIEDMONT OF NORTH CAROLINA...

EASTERN YORK COUNTY IN UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA...

SOUTHEASTERN LINCOLN COUNTY IN THE PIEDMONT OF NORTH CAROLINA...

WESTERN MECKLENBURG COUNTY IN THE PIEDMONT OF NORTH CAROLINA...

* UNTIL 730 AM EDT WEDNESDAY

* AT 925 PM EDT...THE CATAWBA RIVER LAKE SYSTEM FROM THE COWANS FORD

DAM DOWNSTREAM TO MOUNTAIN ISLAND LAKE AND LAKE WYLIE CONTINUED TO

REMAIN ABOVE FULL POOL WITH ELEVATED FLOW RATES. RESERVOIR RELEASES

AND FLOW FROM THE SOUTH FORK CATAWBA RIVER WILL MAINTAIN HIGH LEVELS

OVERNIGHT...POSSIBLY RESULTING IN LOCALIZED RISES. FOR MANY

AREAS...WATER LEVELS HAVE NOT REACHED THE CURRENT LEVELS SINCE THE

FLOOD FOLLOWING THE REMNANTS OF HURRICANE FRANCES IN 2004. THE HIGH

WATER MAY CONTINUE TO FLOOD ROADS LEADING TO SEVERAL HOMES IN THE

VICINITY OF THE MOUNTAIN ISLAND DAM. IN ADDITION...WATER WILL COVER

PORTIONS OF YARDS AND MAY DAMAGE DOCKS ON MOUNTAIN ISLAND SOUTH TO

LAKE WYLIE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

PEOPLE LIVING ON THE SHORES OF THESE DAMS AND NEAR THE CATAWBA RIVER

SHOULD KEEP ALERT OF THE RISING WATERS AND FOLLOW LOCAL LAW

ENFORCEMENT DIRECTIONS AND EVACUATE AS DIRECTED. THIS IS SERIOUS

SITUATION.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE

DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. DO

NOT ENTER THE WATER. TURN AROUND AND MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO

ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN

WATER BEGINS RISING.
