JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A person familiar with the hiring process says the Jacksonville Jaguars have offered North Carolina's Scott Trulock a position as head athletic trainer.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because Trulock has not officially accepted the position. The person says Trulock is likely to take the job.

The Jaguars are looking to replace Mike Ryan, who has been the franchise's trainer since its inception in 1994. Ryan is leaving to spend more time with his family, which includes two young children.

Trulock joined UNC's football program in 2007. The Orlando native has 11 years of NFL experience, serving as an assistant trainer with Denver (2004-06), the director of rehabilitation with Tampa Bay (2002-03) and an assistant trainer with Philadelphia (1996-98). He also worked for San Diego between 1999 and 2001.
