Oklahoma City woman wins appeal in murder case because of judge’s mistake

The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals on Wednesday ruled District Judge Ray C. Elliott erred in remarks to jurors during the jury selection process. As a result, a 2009 murder conviction of Kassie Lakei Bills, 29, was overturned.

An appeals court overturned an Oklahoma City woman’s murder conviction because the judge told jurors not to be “one of those hardheads” when they deliberate the verdict.
