Apple is launching location-based iBeacons at its 254 stores in the U.S. to serve as guides once activated using the Apple Store app, according to USA TODAY.
According to the Associated Press, the iBeacon works with Bluetooth to share alerts while walking through an Apple store. A user could pull up a recent order that employees can complete, or queries about whether you want to upgrade your device.
The iBeacon runs through Bluetooth, and is available on any iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch running iOS 7 or later. Users must have the Apple Store app installed to receive in-store notifications.
