Architect honored for local, Texas designs

Two projects by Oklahoma City’s Elliott + Associates Architects earned plaudits from Interior Design magazine in its recent Best of Year competition.

Design work on Lingo Construction Services headquarters, 123 NW 8, was Best of Year in the Office: Restoration-Renovation category. Elliott’s work on Marfa Contemporary Gallery in Marfa, Texas, a satellite of Oklahoma Contemporary Gallery, was among the top four entries in the Institutional: Arts category.

The competition received 1,800 submissions from around the world, a record. Awards were presented in New York City, with winners chosen by Interior Design Editor in Chief Cindy Allen and the magazine staff.

“It was probably one of the most fun evenings I’ve had in New York,” said Christian Keesee, chairman of Kirkpatrick Bank and president of Oklahoma Contemporary’s Board of Trustees. “Having Marfa Contemporary honored as a finalist in the ‘cultural’ category was so exciting. Many thanks to Rand (Elliott) for helping create such an exciting place in Marfa!”

The gallery in Marfa, a old ranching town with a well-established reputation in the international art world, allows Oklahoma Contemporary to expand operations farther into the Southwest.
