Are Your Cookies Gooder Than Mine and Everyone Else's?

by Dave Cathey Published: November 12, 2013

Rachel Wood, of Edmond, is batting 1.000 as a baking contestant, and it’s up to you to put a dent in that average.

Rachel won the initial 12 Days of Cookies last year, beating out more than 1,500 votes. Rachel said she’d been making her championship ginger cookies as Christmas presents for more than a decade but had never entered the recipe or any other in a contest before.

No word on whether Rachel will re-enter the cookies, but either way you should enter yours for a chance at a year’s supply of milk from Hiland Dairy.

From Nov. 17 through Nov. 30 local bakers can submit their favorite cookie recipes here. Then on Dec. 1, readers can go view the contending recipes and vote for their favorites through Dec. 8. Then beginning Dec. 12 the top 12 vote-getters will be revealed one per day on and in Living sections leading up to Christmas. The overall winner will be featured in The Oklahoman as Rachel was last year. And if Rachel wins again, it’ll be good to see her and all of you will have failed. So, start rifling through those cookie recipes and enter starting Sunday.
