GLENEAGLES, Scotland (AP) — Ricardo Gonzalez shot a second straight 7-under 65 Friday, giving him a one-shot lead after two rounds of the Johnnie Walker Championship.
The 352nd-ranked Argentine birdied three of his opening seven holes before finishing with five straight birdies. That put him at 14-under 130 on the PGA Centenary course that is hosting the Ryder Cup in 2014.
Bernd Wiesberger of Austria shared the first-round lead with Gonzalez. He followed with a 66 that left him alone in second place.
The 43-year-old Gonzalez is a four-time winner on the European Tour, with his last victory in 2009. Since then, both his parents died. He says his "target this week" is to win the tournament and dedicate the victory to his mother and father.
