A night that began with a couple's trip to the Oklahoma State Fair escalated into an argument and a fatal stabbing, court documents reveal.

The body of James Lukes, 34, was found early Sunday in the driveway at 2912 1/2 S Shartel Ave. by officers responding to a domestic call. Police also found Lukes' girlfriend, Sandra Guadalupe Gonzalez, 30, covered in blood at the home, according to the search warrant.

Gonzalez told police the couple had gone to the fair earlier in the evening with his two children, but later Lukes became angry with her and began breaking things in the house. When he wouldn't leave, Gonzalez said she grabbed a steak knife from the kitchen and stabbed him, according to the affidavit.

Lukes' body had two wounds, one in the left shoulder and the other in the upper right portion of his back, records show.

Gonzalez was not injured and told police that Lukes had not hurt her, the warrant states.

A knife was recovered from the home, as well as a shirt and cellphone, records show.

Gonzalez is being held without bail in the Oklahoma County jail on a murder complaint. She has not been charged.
