Ark., Okla. players earn GAC honors

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Players from Arkansas and Oklahoma are sharing Great American Conference awards.

Northwestern Oklahoma State's Jonathan Freemyer and Southern Arkansas' Trevor Rucker shared the Great American Conference's Baseball Player of the Week award. The awards were announced Monday.

Arkansas Tech's Randy Vallejo earned the Pitcher of the Week honor.

Freeyer, of Kingwood, Texas, finished his career by homering in four of five games last week.

Rucker, from Prescott, Ariz., recorded at least one hit in all four games during the week, extending his hitting streak to 18 games.

Vallejo, of Del Valle, Texas, is the national leader for saves in Division II. In five scoreless appearances, he allowed five hits and added a strikeout.
