Arouca wins 3-0 at Gil Vicente in Portugal

LISBON, Portugal (AP) — Arouca won 3-0 at 10-man Gil Vicente thanks to midfielder Andre Claro's two goals to escape the Portuguese league's relegation zone on Sunday.

Claro opened the scoring for Arouca in the 31st minute from a pass by Carlos Carvalho.

Gil Vicente was reduced to 10 men in the 62nd when Luis Martins received his second yellow card.

Roberto Maximiano doubled the lead in the 64th, and Luis Goncalves set up Claro to score again in the 70th.

Also, Estoril drew 0-0 at Belenenses to waste a chance to strengthen its hold on fourth place. It stayed one point ahead of Guimaraes.

Sporting Lisbon, FC Porto, Benfica are tied for the league lead through 17 rounds.
