UPDATE: Arrest made in hit-and-run death of Oklahoma City inventor Jack McClung

Police in Oklahoma City have arrested a man in the hit-and-run death of Jack McClung. McClung, inventor of pain relief product Blue Stuff, was struck and killed on Sunday by a driver who left the scene.

Police have made an arrest in the Sunday hit-and-run traffic death of Oklahoma City inventor Jack McClung, 79.

On Wednesday night, officers arrested Wilfredo L. Gomez, 21, after a traffic stop near NW 16 and N Meridian Avenue.

Investigators think Gomez was planning to flee the country.

Police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said investigators are thankful to all the people who called with information about the case that led to the arrest.

Gomez was in the Oklahoma County jail Thursday on complaints of leaving the scene of a fatality accident, causing a fatality accident without having a valid driver’s license and having no insurance.

What happened?

McClung was walking across NW 23 at Geraldine Avenue near N Meridian on Sunday afternoon when he was fatally struck.

McClung was the inventor of Blue Stuff, a joint pain relief ointment made from emu oil.
