— An East Central University student confessed to killing one of his classmates Wednesday morning to see what it felt like, according to an affidavit filed by the Pottawatomie County undersheriff who arrested him.

Jerrod Murray, 18, of Asher, was charged Friday with first-degree murder in the death of Generro Sanchez, 18. Bail was denied in a court hearing Friday, and the next court date in the case is scheduled Jan. 8.

Murray was arrested about 3 a.m. Wednesday after Sanchez was found dead in a ditch in Pottawatomie County.

Murray and Sanchez were classmates at East Central.

Undersheriff J.T. Palmer arrested Murray and questioned him about the killing.

According to an affidavit Palmer filed Thursday in Pottawatomie County District Court, Murray said he had decided to kill someone several weeks ago and chose Sanchez because he had few friends at the school and wouldn't immediately be missed.

Murray told Palmer he offered Sanchez $20 to take him to Walmart. When they got in Sanchez's pickup, Murray pulled a gun on him and told him to drive to a spot five miles north of Asher that Murray knew well, the undersheriff wrote.
