Counselors were at Watonga Elementary School on Thursday to help classmates and staff members deal with their grief about Rosalin, who was known by her family as Rosa.
“Early this morning we were still seeing some kids after they had gone home and talked and listened to their parents,” Watonga Superintendent Craig Cummins said.
Parent-teacher conferences are today in the district, so there are no scheduled classes.
“I hope that will give the kids an opportunity to kind of catch up and catch their breath and relax a little bit,” Cummins said. “It's a tough situation, and there's no escaping it, but this little break may help us quite a bit.”
Services are pending with Russworm Funeral Home in Watonga.
Efforts to reach Rosalin's family have been unsuccessful.
