LONDON (AP) — Arsenal has signed experienced Sweden midfielder Kim Kallstrom on loan until the end of the season after seeing the team's midfield options hit by injury and suspension.
The 31-year-old Kallstrom joined from Spartak Moscow on Friday, hours after Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said that Aaron Ramsey would be sidelined for up to six weeks following a setback in his recovery from a thigh injury.
With Jack Wilshere also currently out injured and Mathieu Flamini suspended for the next three matches, Wenger found himself short in midfield as his team attempts to stay in contention for the Premier League title.
Kallstrom, who is eligible to play in the Champions League, joined Spartak in 2012 after six years at French club Lyon.
He has 108 caps for Sweden.
