Strawberry, always strawberry.
That's the flavor Danette Rodgers ordered when she and son Tyreese Rodgers went for ice cream.
His choice is chocolate when it comes to ice cream and rap when it comes to music. His mom was a strawberry and Whitney Houston person. Tyreese didn't mind listening to Houston, either.
Danette Rodgers, 30, died in the May 3 tornadoes in Oklahoma. Tyreese, his mother and brothers, Deon and Andrew Henderson, his uncle Dennis Henderson and stepfather Ty Henderson were hiding in the bathroom when the windows began to shake May 3.
Tyreese still has the memories of ice cream and music.
"I love her," he said. "She was nice."
Tyreese said he told his mother he loved her before the storm hit. He has already picked out a star in the sky that is going to be his mother's.
