Guadalupe Velasco Urice loved animals, particularly her four Pomeranian dogs. She treated her dogs like her children.

Julio Avila, her husband, feels she may have died in Monday's tornado trying to save her pet dogs Nikki, Sugar, Happy and Chiquis.

"It was just her and me here and all the dogs," said Avila, who was at work when the storm hit.

Urice, 60, was alone at their Del City home in the Del Aire neighborhood when the tornado struck. Her dogs also were lost in the storm.

She was born in Mexico City to Justiniano and Marie Lucas. She came to Oklahoma in 1962 and had lived in Del City since 1990.

She was a member of the Little Flower Catholic Church. Services will be there today for Urice, and she will be buried in Mexico City.
