Profiles of Life: Molly Kughn
Molly Kughn pampered her home on the hill that overlooked north
Logan County in the community of Abell, just northwest of Guthrie.
And she took pride in her vegetable garden that produced beans and
potatoes and okra and tomatoes.
"She enjoyed life, she enjoyed her home and she took good care
of her home and garden," said Minnie Rose Tellaro, who called Molly
her friend for more than 50 years. "Molly loved that big house. She
was a very friendly, pleasant, jolly lady. She had many friends out
here in the Abell community."
Molly, 76, was born in the northwestern Oklahoma town of
Buffalo. She worked building airplanes at Tinker during World War
II. And after marrying James Kughn, she moved to Abell in 1947 to
farm and be a homemaker in the frame house where James had been
raised by his parents - the same house where she would raise her
children Gary and Patsy.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
She spent her Sundays at Abell Community Church and was a member
of the Abell FCE Group for 50 years. And she was known for her
homemade bread, a frequent favorite donation to Camp JOY for
children's camps.
Her friends in Abell said she'll be remembered as a person who
cared about her family, including three grandchildren, and her
church and community.
