Peterson shrugs off dislocation, gets 9th straight 100-yard game

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson carried his dislocated left shoulder off the field with the game and the Sooners' season in the balance.

The next offensive series, Peterson, shoulder back in place, carried himself past 100 yards for a record-setting ninth straight time and, maybe more importantly, his team to a win over Texas A&M and a possible national championship game.

"Every game I gain respect for Adrian in some other way,'' said Oklahoma quarterback Jason White.

Peterson's shoulder was dislocated after a 6-yard run with eight minutes left in a 35-35 game. The freshman was escorted off the field, and the OU medical staff put the shoulder back in place.

After going up 42-35, OU was in need of a sustained drive and faced a third-and-two. The Sooners turned to Peterson. He got four on the play and the Sooners kept the ball until the 1:09 mark. That run also put Peterson at 101 yards on 29 carries.

"We needed his power in there,'' said offensive coordinator Chuck Long. "We certainly don't want to put somebody in harm's way.
