The Oklahoman Archives used for more than research

There wasn't a lot of time this week to get everything finished.

It was a holiday week, and we had plenty of Thanksgiving coverage to plan on NewsOK.com.

But it happened again. I got sucked into the depths of The Oklahoman Archives and lost about two hours while searching for various items in the 100-year history of the newspaper.

It happens all too frequently. This time, it happened on a Monday afternoon.

I decided to take a look at the Nov. 23, 1963 newspaper coverage of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. It seemed like a good day to promote the online archives, because Monday was the 41st anniversary of the tragedy in Dallas.

I quickly looked up the date in question and posted the findings near the top of our Web site, but then I got greedy.
