According to a transcript of the March 2 U.S. Senate Homeland Security Subcommittee hearing: According to the 9/11 Commission, more than 500 million people cross U.S. borders at legal entry points annually, about 300 million of them noncitizens. 500,000 or more enter illegally through U.S. borders or stay past the expiration of their documentation. According to a Center for Immigration Studies November 2003 report. Between 2000 and 2003, 2.3 million legal and illegal immigrant workers arrived in the United States. About 1.2 million of those arriving between 2000 and 2003 are illegal, based upon Census Bureau data. At least 90 percent of the 1.5 million arriving from Mexico between 2000 and 2003 are illegal, meaning illegals from that country account for nearly two-thirds of all new illegals.
