Oh, the food!
More than 20 years after its opening in December 1988, people still rave about such entrees as the chicken fricassee, the ranch strip, and the chicken breast with vermouth cream. Guests enjoy these and a handsome variety of other specialties, coupled with the finest wines available, only to cap the hallmark experience with such desserts as bread pudding with whiskey butter sauce, classic créme brulee and lemon-white chocolate cheesecake.
When Chris and LaVeryl Lower first opened the popular restaurant, their original guests surely recognized the beginning of something special in the world of Oklahoma City restaurants — a commitment to quality cuisine, service and atmosphere.
That same commitment remains today at The Metro.
LaVeryl said they determined from the very beginning to start a long-standing tradition of excellence.
"We decided we wanted to open as a wine bar and bistro, so we were heavily wine focused from the beginning," Lower said. "Now, we have 380 to 400 selections of wine, and that fluctuates, and we always offer about 26 wines by the glass. We wanted to offer the finest food, a variety of wines, with the best service."
