At Dan's Ol' Time Diner, low-key mixes well with high-quality burgers
Dan's Ol' Time Diner is a low-key, high-quality burger joint in south Oklahoma City on Western Avenue. The menu isn't too complex, with onion burgers being the place's calling card, but at Dan's it isn't about how much you do, but how well you do it.

Everything at Dan's is made fresh daily, from the sizzling burgers topped with caramelized onions to the generous servings of fresh cut french fries. There is a topping and condiment bar that allows each customer to dress their burger to his or her own taste. The grill and fryer are positioned right behind the counter, giving the customer a good look at the progress of their meal and adding a distinct, appetizing aroma to an already welcoming atmosphere.
Dan's Ol' Time Diner has been part of the community since 1982 and hasn't changed much since. It's still very local and has a warm, old-fashioned feel.
"[The original restaurant owner] Dan, he was a collector — a Coke collector," said the restaurant's general manager Lydia, "He passed away about 15 years ago."
Coke memorabilia is the décor; old aluminum signs, classic bottles, and vintage machines can be found all over the diner. It should come as no surprise what the beverage of choice is at Dan's.
"We have no Pepsi," Lydia said. "Just Coke."
