In what may become known as one of the worst outbreaks of tornadoes in state history, Monday's numerous twisters built rapidly.

The first instance of severe weather came about 5 p.m., when a tornado was seen near Cyril in southeastern Caddo County. Damage and at least one injury were reported in the Stecker area in southern Caddo County.

Softball-size hail was reported five miles north of Altus at 5:13 p.m.

At 5:21 p.m., a tornado was reported west of Cyril, and at 5:28 p.m., a tornado was reported three miles northwest of Cyril.

At 5:35 p.m., a tornado was spotted three miles south of Roosevelt in Kiowa County. At 5:40 p.m., another tornado was reported two miles south of Anadarko. Also at 5:35 p.m., a tornado was reported just west of Tom Steed Lake in Kiowa County.

At 5:55 p.m., a large tornado was seen two miles north of Laverty. At 6:07 p.m., multiple tornadoes were reported near Chickasha. At 6:19 a tornado was reported on the north side of Chickasha near the airport.

The large storm system that spawned those funnels continued to move east and northeast. There was a tornado at 6:40 near Middleberg in northern Grady County. At 6:51 p.m., a tornado was reported at the access to the H.E. Bailey Turnpike on the north side of Newcastle.

At 6:57 p.m., a large tornado moved along Interstate 44 west of Newcastle toward Moore. At 7:01 p.m., a tornado was reported a mile west of Okarche and into Kingfisher County. A brief tornado touchdown was reported at 7:14 p.m. five miles north of Anadarko.

At 7:47 p.m., a multiple vortex tornado was on the ground crossing State Highway 152, 10 miles west of Minco. At 7:51 p.m., a tornado was reported over Midwest City. At 7:53 p.m., a tornado was reported seven miles west of Minco. A tornado was reported on NE 23 near Choctaw at 8:10 p.m.

At 8:15 p.m., two tornadoes were reported, one near NE 63 and Triple XXX Road in eastern Oklahoma County, the second five miles northeast of Union City in Canadian County.
