Coburn gains support in effort to start database on spending

WASHINGTON - U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn gained a boost last week in his effort to launch his " Google for government spending."

At a hearing, Maine Sen. Susan Collins , who is chairman of the committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, gave Coburn her commitment that she would work toward quick passage of his legislation and send it to the full Senate.
