Openly gay recruit turned away
An openly gay Oklahoma man tried to enlist in the Army Wednesday morning and was turned away.
Surrounded by media cameras and microphones, Michael Cich , 27, walked into the recruiting station at 6401 Northwest Expressway and told Sgt. Vernon Stone he wants to serve his country but will not conceal his sexual orientation.
