Gray denies embezzling drug money
TAHLEQUAH - An indictment made public Tuesday accuses District Attorney Richard Gray of embezzling nearly $9,000 from his office.
The state’s multicounty grand jury alleged Gray signed out seized drug money on March 25, 2004, then never deposited it with the county treasurer. He indicated he was going to put the money in a safe-deposit box in Cherokee County , according to the indictment.
