TULSA — Jenks quarterback Mark Ginther never lost his confidence. Neither did running back Chris Adkins, even with the likes of Muskogee defensive end Jontae Bumpus trying to make them a pair of doormats all night long.

It was Ginther who led Jenks to the Class 6A finals with a 52-35 win over Muskogee at Tulsa Union on Friday night.

With Jenks clinging to a three-point lead, Ginther completed three passes on a nine-play drive capped off by a 31-yard touchdown pass to Tanner Shuck with 6:29 left to play.

"He's a just a great player," Jenks coach Allan Trimble said of Ginther. "He's smart. And I'm just glad he's sharing his talent with us because he's got a bright future in baseball."

Ginther finished with 20 completions for 154 yards and three touchdowns. Ginther converted six third-down plays. The pass to Shuck all but ended the Roughers' bid to avenge a 28-3 district loss to the Trojans two months ago. Adkins shook off an early-game fumble to rush 36 times for 162 yards. He scored on a two-yard run that made it 45-28 Jenks. Adkins carried 18 times in the second half, including an 18-yard on the drive that led to Shuck's touchdown catch.

"We had really good chemistry on offense tonight," Ginther said. "I was able to complete a few passes, and Chris had a good night, too. When we play like that we can be tough to beat."

Muskogee quarterback Rell Lewis was pretty good himself. The senior, who has been playing with a torn MCL, threw three touchdown passes and ran for a 35-yard score in the first half.
