Coburn finds ethics bill still weak

WASHINGTON — Though a Senate ethics bill passed Thursday included changes sought by Sen. Tom Coburn to the way lawmakers obtain pet projects, the Muskogee Republican was still unhappy.

Coburn was one of two senators to vote against the bill and he rejected claims by the Senate's Democratic leader that it was the "toughest reform bill in the history” of the Senate in relation to ethics and lawmaking.
