COLUMBIA, Mo. — Former Oklahoma men's basketball coach Billy Tubbs knows the benefits of going to the National Invitation Tournament .
In March 1982, Tubbs' second year as OU's head coach, the Sooners reached the NIT Final Four and changed the face of the program.
"That particular NIT really elevated our program at Oklahoma,” Tubbs said. "We signed Wayman Tisdale off of that NIT.”
