House speaker, lobbyists meet off-site
Democrats accuse Republican leader of ‘pay-to-play' donation scheme.
In the same week House Speaker Lance Cargill is calling for more openness in state government, he has been meeting privately with lobbyists off-site, raising money.
Cargill said he was leading by example by holding his meetings with lobbyists outside the Capitol. He said the intent is eliminating his home-court advantage in the marble halls and his influence there.
