First star: Blazers forward Ryan Watson scored the game-winning goal in the shootout. He had two regulation goals, 19 seconds apart in the third period, to give the Blazers a 3-2 lead.

Noteworthy: Blazers coach Doug Sauter said on his postgame radio show that he disagreed with Lubbock (17-25-6) management firing former Blazers player Chris Dashney as its coach a week ago. Sauter said that made Friday's win a little more special.
