Greek poet given credit for method
Dale White said most memory methods can be traced to Simonides, the Greek poet who lived about 2,500 years ago and developed a memory method called Loci.
Simonides was invited to a banquet with the king and other people, the story goes. At one point after Simonides stepped out of the room or the building, the structure collapsed and burned, killing everyone inside.
