Chickering asks for autographs; Wright closes in on ASCS record
USA modified driver Allen Chickering is going all out for the Make-A-Wish Foundation this dirt car racing season.

Four of Chickering's sponsored dirt cars will be available before the races tonight at State Fair Speedway for fans to sign for a $1 donation. The cars will also be available in the pits after the races. Chickering, an Okarche resident, is currently ninth in the point standings.

•Drivers at State Fair Speedway will soon have no excuses for missed caution flags or any other on-track confusion.

The speedway is implementing one-way radio receivers for drivers this season. The drivers can either purchase a radio from the speedway for a $130, or they can rent a radio for a weekly fee. All drivers must have a radio by June 15.

•American Sprint Car Series driver Gary Wright is getting closer to setting an ASCS record for consecutive top-five feature finishes. Wright has 12 going into this weekend's scheduled races in Dundee, N.Y. The record is 16, set by Wright in 2005.

Wright continues to lead the national point standings. He has a 99-point lead over Wayne Johnson of Oklahoma City.

Texas Motor Speedway has a couple of major races scheduled for June. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will have the Sam's Town 400K on June 8. The next night, the Indy Racing League will have the Bombardier Learjet 500.

Qualifying for the Sam's Town 400K will be 6 p.m. June 7. Gates will open at 11:30 a.m.

Indy Racing League qualifying is scheduled June 8, before the NASCAR Truck race. For more information, go to www.texasmotorspeedway.com.

I-44 Speedway in Oklahoma City continues to be headquarters for little league sprint car racing in Oklahoma. Cody Jarvis leads the Kid's Sprints standings with 255 points. Layden Pearson is two points behind.

I-44 races are 7 p.m. Saturday. Ticket prices are $8 for adults, $6 for senior citizens and $3 for ages 5-15. The track is located one block east of I-44 on SW 149th.
