State Fair Speedway was rained out for the fifth time this season when last weekend's American Sprint Car Series Sooner Region race was in Oklahoma City. Tonight at 7:30, the speedway will try to get back underway to the delight of many youngsters.

The speedway will have its regular divisions race, but a "Stars of Tomorrow” promotion is scheduled. Kid Sprints will be on display in front of the speedway. Most of the youngsters' cars on display will race on Saturday nights at I-44 Speedway in Oklahoma City. The track is located at 4100 SW 149.

Keep an eye out for Baylee Dye and Jake Rosario sometime on State Fair Speedway's track. Dye, a fourth-grader, won the Kid Sprint championship last season at I-44. Rosario, a Guthrie High School student, won the Restrictor Sprint division.

Go fast indoors: You don't have to have thousands of dollars invested in equipment to get your race on. About $30 will get anyone a taste of live racing action at Pole Position Raceway, located at NW 36 and May.

For that price, race fans can drive an electrically operated go-kart around a quarter-mile track. Cars can reach speeds up to 40 mph.

Oklahoma City's Pole Position Raceway is only the second franchise in the country.

Pole Position offers discounted rates for racers with memberships. The track offers slower go-karts for children.

Races average from 12 to 16 laps. Pole Position puts on drivers clinics, which are free to members and $10 for non-members.

Johnson continues to reel in Wright: Oklahoma native Wayne Johnson is within 10 points of American Sprint Car Series National Tour points leader Gary Wright. Johnson snapped an 11-race winless streak with a victory at North Central Speedway (Minn.) on Wednesday during the Northern Plains Speedweek.

Johnson has remained in the national championship points race with nine top-five finishes in the last 11 feature races.
