About 12:30 a.m., trooper Shaun Vann saw a van going east on I-44 near Sheridan with a headlight out, a patrol report states. Vann stopped the van and saw multiple passengers inside.
Trooper Jeremiah Hoyt assisted Vann and they determined while interviewing the driver the passengers were illegal immigrants, the report states. Federal authorities were contacted and impounded the van.
With help from the OHP and Tulsa police, federal authorities transported 13 males and four females to the Tulsa County jail to await deportation, the report states. An inventory of the van turned up $728 in the center console. Police think the money was proceeds from trafficking immigrants.
