Measurable rainfall recorded at Will Rogers World Airport made Wednesday the 15th consecutive day of rain in the Oklahoma City area — setting a record. The previous record was 14 days, set May 29 to June 11, 1937. There were 13 consecutive days of rain June 16 to June 28, 2000.

As of 7 a.m. Wednesday, 2.94 inches of rain was recorded in a 24-hour period at Wiley Post Airport in northwest Oklahoma City; 0.58 of an inch had fallen at Will Rogers World Airport in southwest Oklahoma City; and 0.74 of an inch was recorded at Tinker Air Force Base, the National Weather Service in Norman reported.
In Oklahoma City, the rainfall total for this year through Wednesday afternoon was 29.07 inches, almost 10 inches above normal and already more than the 27.84 inches that fell in all of 2006, when much of the state was experiencing drought, the weather service reported. Through Wednesday afternoon, the monthly rainfall total was 7.29 inches, 3.17 inches above normal. The average annual rainfall amount in Oklahoma City is 35.84 inches.
A flood warning was effective until further notice for the North Canadian River north of Harrah.
Minor flooding was occurring, the weather service reported.
At 2 p.m. Wednesday, the river was about a half-foot below its flood stage of 14 feet. Forecasters predicted the river to crest at 14 feet by 7 a.m. today.
A flash flood watch was effective for Oklahoma County through this evening.
